Hollister has been retained as construction manager by BelovED Community Charter School (BelovED) to construct their new middle school at 508 Grand Street in Jersey City, NJ. The half-acre site will accommodate the new 40,000sf middle school serving approximately 240 students in grades six through eight.

With a concentration in music education, the new school will feature a spacious orchestra-influenced music room with 16-foot high ceilings and outfitted with acoustical enhancements and sound-proofed mahogany wood walls. It will also include outdoor assembly and recreational facilities, general classrooms, four half-classrooms, two science rooms, two art rooms, a gymnasium with a mezzanine, a media center, administrative offices and a large dividable multi-purpose room for events and testing.

A key feature of the project will be the two-story cafetorium serving as both the cafeteria and auditorium. Combining the functions of an auditorium and cafeteria, the cafetorium allows the school to utilize the space as a cafeteria for lunch time activities and as a 300- seat auditorium for assemblies, community events and performances. The project will also entail the construction of a 31-car parking lot.

Hollister first partnered with BelovED in 2014 to deliver their elementary Charter School entailing of 23,000sf and serving 720 Kindergarten to fifth grade students. The new middle school, located across the street from the elementary school, will break ground in April and make its grand opening for the 2019 school year.
